Activities Around Risoul

Risoul is a bit small for you, and you're looking to explore the region a little? Whether you're seeking thrills or a peaceful place to relax, you're spoiled for choice! Here's a brief overview of possible destinations less than an hour's drive from the Risoul resort.

The Serre-Ponçon Lake

The Serre-Ponçon Lake, with its 2,800 hectares, is the largest artificial lake in France and one of the largest earth dams in Europe, holding more than a billion cubic meters of water, or 1,000 billion liters! The Serre-Ponçon Valley enjoys exceptional sunshine, regularly reaching 300 days per year, giving it an almost exotic atmosphere. Thanks to controlled real estate expansion, nature is omnipresent, and the steep banks have retained their wild appearance. Of the lake's 90 km of banks, only 13 km are developed and dedicated to tourism.

An idyllic water park, the starting point for many hikes that will take you from the Écrins to the Queyras, discovering springs and lakes. In winter, the water freezes into ice, turning swimming into contemplative walks and games of pétanque.

At an altitude of 900 meters, between the towns of Risoul and Guillestre, lie the natural hot springs of Plan de Phazy. A must-see, even in winter! Yes, the water is hot, but the real challenge is the freezing temperature outside. It's like venturing into an outdoor jacuzzi, but with a polar atmosphere! The place is free and open all year round. So, up for a little swim?
